#1 Women in Adventure films
We were bummed when the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival got cancelled earlier this year, not just for ourselves but for the filmmakers who’d put in hundreds of hours of work only for COVID-19 to come and pull the plug on their big moment. Luckily, the BMC have profiled this year’s winners from the ‘Women in Adventure’ category.

#2 Surfing on our shores
On the subject of great films, we’re pretty stoked about Cynevin, a new documentary about surfing in Cornwall. ‘Cynevin’ (k–neh–vin) is a Cornish word describing your stomping ground, the place you call home, and appropriately in these Covidian times, the film is a celebration of the waves that break on our shores.

#3 Why we all spent lockdown baking and gardening
While those of us lucky enough to live in the South West might have spent lockdown surfing breaks, most people were instead coming up with new bakes – at least, judging from the WildBounds Instagram feed. Gardening has been similarly popular. The reason for this, apparently is our need for autonomy, mastery and a sense of belonging, aka self-determination theory
