Lightweight bush machete

A Nata is a traditional Japanese bush machete – and in our opinion, there’s no better tool for clearing brush, cutting shoots or lopping small branches. Constructed with heritage-quality materials, the Barebones Nata Tool combines functionality, durability and refinement. The stainless-steel blade has a full-tang construction for maximum strength, while the ergonomic walnut handle ensures easy, precise handling. And despite its robust construction, the Nata is thin and lightweight, reducing fatigue when working hard. It comes supplied with a protective lined sheath, fitted with a stainless-steel belt clip and accented with full-grain leather and copper details. And if you need something even heftier, the Barebones Nata Hatchet is its heavy-duty sibling, capable of cutting through branches and larger logs up to 8" in diameter.

  • Blade - Apply a thin coat of protective oil after each use. Wipe clean of dirt, water, and fingerprints regularly. Use a medium to fine file to straighten out any larger dings or nicks in the blade. The edge can be honed with a medium sharpening disk or stone.

    • Waxed canvas should never be dry cleaned or machine washed. It can be cleaned carefully by hand. Brush off the loose dirt, rinse the surface with cold water, gently scrub with a brush, then let air dry. If stains persist, use mild bar soap or saddle soap.
    • After cleaning, waxed canvas may need to be re-waxed. To do so, use a wax conditioner and apply following the manufacturer's instructions.
