When it comes to frozen bivvies and winter wild camps, there seems to be a perverse school of thought that suffering through the night somehow builds character. NEMO's Eclipse All-Season cheerfully ignores this outdated philosophy. With an R-value of 6.0 and plush cushioning, it's the sort of mat that makes winter camping feel less like an endurance test and more like good wholesome fun. The longitudinal Spaceframe baffles use low-stretch, die-cut trusses to eliminate that annoying bouncy castle springiness you get with cheaper air pads. There's subtle body-mapped contouring to keep you centred through the night, because rolling off your pad at 3am is nobody's idea of a great night out. The micro-adjustable Laylow Zero valve allows you to fine-tune firmness without the usual faff. Two layers of internal reflective film deliver serious warmth, whilst the 100% recycled brushed nylon twill shell keeps things soft and sustainable. Available in regular, regular wide, and long wide sizes, even the heaviest option comes in at just 670g. Oh, and the included Vortex pump sack means you're not hyperventilating trying to inflate the thing manually. It's proper four-season kit that doesn't require you to be miserable to prove you're outdoorsy.

The idea of NEMO was born one turbulent night on the side of Mount Washington while Cam Brensinger spent a sleepless five hours in a poorly designed bivy. That night he realised how much opportunity there was for thoughtful design as part of the equation of enjoying adventure. And, coming down off the mountain the next day, he resolved to tackle that challenge. Three days after graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, he founded NEMO Equipment.
